Super Scientists with Sentinus ๐Ÿงช๐Ÿ”ฌ๐ŸŒˆ

17th Nov 2023
Primary One were treated to an excellent workshop this morning with Roy from Sentinus. We completed lots of STEM tasks based on our book from this week - 'The Day the Crayons Quit'. ๐ŸŒˆ

We listened to an audiobook of the story, and were shocked to hear all the crayons talk in different voices. We had chatted earlier in the week about the crayons emotions, so we were able to identify who was happy/ sad etc.

Then Roy split us into groups and we completed six activities, which were:
  • Building ramps for cars
  • Building a tub to fit our crayons
  • Using a colour mixing spinner
  • Drawing things associated with a certain colour
  • Making coloured animals from blocks
  • Talking about natural vs man-made items
After break we were scientists once again. We turned our attention to building houses, and making predictions about these. First of all we made houses with wooden lollipop sticks and wooden clothes pegs. We realised these were quite strong.

We then talked about paper. We didn't think this would make a good house, however Roy and Miss McElholm made the paper into rolls with tape and put a whiteboard on top. This was so strong - it was able to hold 20 reading books!! We built it up as high as we could. It was a fantastic experiment!

We had such a great day! Thank you so much to Roy and the team at Sentinus for providing this workshop today ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘
