                                                                                                                      19th March 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians

This has been a very difficult week. We’re all worried and concerned about what the coming
weeks and months will bring. But we’d like to try and keep a little bit of normality in the lives of our
children – which is why our staff have worked so hard in preparing packs to keep our children
working at home. I’d like to thank the staff and governors of our school for this and for their support
in what has been an uncertain week. The decision to close our school to allow staff to prepare for
what’s likely to be a long closure was not an easy one to take nor was it one that was taken lightly. I
did so with the best interests of our staff and children in mind. A school is just not the same without
the laughter of children and the last few days haven’t been the same, staff are worried about the
children and their own family situations. Staff are as upset as the children at all the events that will
possibly be missed in the summer term, the most exciting and happy term of the year.

We are currently awaiting further clarification on key workers, we may be open with a
skeleton staff on Monday, but the majority of staff will be working from home to plan and prepare work as usual,
although without the face to face expertise of the teacher it’s just not the same, but hopefully it’ll be
enough to bring a bit of normality into the lives of the children.

We don’t expect children to be working a full school day, but we do ask that you try to
ensure that your child tries to follow the timetable sent home by the teacher. Some routine over
the coming weeks will be vital.

For children in Primary 5,6&7 keep checking the Office 365 page on
our website for weekly tasks- and don’t forget to check your work for comments from teachers.

The school website will be the main point of communication at this time, under the news
section you will find Ideas for home Learning, Accelerated Reading & Office 365

For the duration of the closure the messaging function of the school Facebook page is open
and I can be contacted via email cduddy605@c2kni.net to help deal with any issues you may face
over the coming months.

The most pressing concern at the minute is to ensure the health and well-being of our
families and our communities. We urge you to look after your families, look out for vulnerable
people in our communities and God willing, we’ll come through this period of uncertainty stronger.

Take care of each other and God bless

Mr Duddy
