Maths week

19th Oct 2018

This week was maths week and in Year 5/6 we did numerous activities to use our mathematical knowledge and increase our problem solving abilities.

We had a maths trail in the school grounds which involved measuring, counting, multiplying and using a compass to find objects in various directions.

We also had fun with our times tables. We had to work in a team to determine the answer to a multiplication sum and then make the answer using our bodies.

The problem solving task we did required lots of thinking. We had to work in teams to use only one A4 page to cover the full length of the room. Then we only had a 30cm ruler to help us determine the length of the room. We all used various strategies to solve the problem. We managed to get a measurement that was only 0.5cm off the actual length.
